A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault resulted in the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

These detentions follow a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt during the incident. Five people went to hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people hurt by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
